What to expect from MG
As the key link between sales, marketing and vehicle development, you will play a pivotal role in co-ordinating European input to global programmes, maximising profitability and analysing market trends. Reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing, you will work as part of a collaborative team which influences business decisions worldwide.
With ambitious expansion plans, MG is delivering a growing portfolio of stylish models with extensive personalisation options, compelling finance offers and a straightforward yet flexible approach to doing business. Profitability is essential in such a competitive marketplace, and MG will give you the tools you need to optimise product specifications, pricing and warranties while keeping an eye on the rest of the market.
You will be provided with an environment in which to make accurate predictions to direct future product strategy, as well as forecasting sales volumes and pricing for effective business planning. You will have access to key personnel within the business, allowing you to influence policy, inspire sales strategy and make a real commercial difference to a global business operation.
Reporting back to the business on competitor activity, compliance, legislation and individual market requirements, you will have the strategically important role of engaging with organisations such as Motability, CAP and Glass’s Guide.
A product advocate and brand ambassador, not only will you have a unique insight into the inner-workings of a global automotive brand, but your actions will directly influence the way in which MG develops over the coming years. With your expert analysis and pivotal role connecting stakeholders, you will be empowered to make a genuine commercial impact.
What we want to see
To be successful in this role, you need meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to always being one step ahead of the competition and the ability to effectively explain your thinking to stakeholders from a wide variety of business, marketing and engineering backgrounds. You will also need a forensic understanding of the automotive supply chain and strong technical know-how.
While flexibility and fresh thinking is essential, you will also take a methodical approach to your work, ensuring consistent and detailed monthly reporting which meets deadlines and delivers on the needs of the business. You will be able to strike out on your own, sourcing relevant information and completing deep-dive exercises into competitor activities, while being equally at home operating as part of a team.
A consummate communicator and project manager, you will be able to take people on a journey with you, positively inspiring them about the future direction of the MG brand through written, audio and face-to-face engagement. You will be just as comfortable updating information on product spec sheets and explaining legislation, as you are delivering training and communicating industry updates to sales people and dealers.
A robust understanding of pricing models is essential and you will need to be able to confidently and accurately provide detailed analysis of competitor pricing, right the way down to feature level. Your analytical skills will be second-to-none and you will have a thorough knowledge of each of the markets in which MG operates in order to set realistic engineering, sales and marketing targets.
Flexible, dynamic and driven, you will take responsibility for your own career in order to play a pivotal role in driving the future growth of MG in the UK and Europe.
Whilst previous automotive experience is not essential, an understanding of the market is desirable. MG has a strong portfolio plan in place so an individual who can pick this up quickly and carry it forward would be advantageous
