MG continues its relaunch with GS SUV

MG has launched its first-ever SUV at the London Motor Show. The GS was designed and engineered at the brand's Longbridge factory in Birmingham, UK, and will join the rapidly swelling crowd of high-riding hatchbacks designed with the city in mind.

Just like Mazda and Nissan, MG has tried to draw buyers in with a sporty, rugged looking exterior. Whereas most concept cars have their styling toned right down when it comes time to reach production, the GS looks remarkably similar to the CS Concept MG showed in 2013.

MG GS will be the British manufacturer's first SUV

MG is looking to capitalise on the ever-popular sports utility vehicle market with its own offering known as the GS.

The MG GS is said to marry 'family fun and affordability' with 'sporty looks' and practicality. It was unveiled at the London Motor Show, which took place at Battersea Park.

New MG GS hits London Motor Show with turbo petrol power

MG aims for the Renault Kadjar with brand new SUV, set to go on sale in the UK in June from around £16,000

The GS, which was revealed at the London Motor Show, is based around a brand new scaleable platform and will take on the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson - but it should be cheaper than all of them.

New MG GS SUV unveiled at London Motor Show

The MG GS SUV has been unveiled at the London motor show ahead of order books opening in June.

It will be available with a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and three different trim levels, and an automatic gearbox – the manufacturer’s first – will be available in top-spec. Full pricing for the Nissan Qashqai rival will be announced in June, but the starting price of the GS is likely to undercut the Qashqai, which is priced from £18,545.

MG unveils the GS SUV

Today MG Motor unveiled its all-new SUV, the MG GS. It took place at a preview event at the London Motor Show.

MG also announced the GS will come with the British manufacturer’s first automatic transmission.

Reborn MG launches new SUV-style model 

MG Motor UK unveiling its all-new GS SUV at the London Motor Show - the third model in its line-up since the now Chinese-owned brand returned to the British car market five years ago following its collapse.

The GS will be available in three different trim levels and offer a 1.5 litre turbo-charged direct injection petrol engine linked to either a six speed manual or automatic seven speed dual clutch transmission.

MG unveils new GS

MG has officially revealed the GS at the London Motor Show. The GS is expected to start from £16,500 when it goes on sale in June.

The MG crossover will be powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine and be available in three different trim levels. There are no details about power outputs or fuel economy, but MG has confirmed that top spec models will get an automatic DCT gearbox as standard.

The big news at London was a genuine UK new car reveal – MG chose the London Motor Show to pull the covers off its British-spec GS crossover, ahead of sales starting in the summer.

And what an impressive-looking Nissan Qashqai rival the new MG GS is. With contemporary looks and neat detailing, the smart new MG was very well received by the crowd gathered for its debut.
