Daniel Lloyd will join Aron Taylor-Smith to complete the MG RCiB Racing team for 2017.
After impressing in the three rounds he completed during the 2016 season with Eurotech Racing, Lloyd will be competing in his first full BTCC season with MG in 2017.
Like many drivers on the grid, Lloyd began his racing career in karting. After making his karting debut in 2003, he progressed through the ranks before earning a seat in the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2008.
The Yorkshireman has since competed in several GT race series including the Blancpain Endurance Series, British GT and United Sports Car Championship, as well as in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
His appearance in three rounds of the 2016 BTCC showcased his talent as he finished seventh in just his second race. His raw pace was clear in the next race at Oulton Park as he qualified on the front row of the grid and went on to finish sixth in the race. To disprove any thoughts that performance was a fluke, he repeated his qualifying feat with another second fatest lap at Croft. Unfortunately, due to funding reasons, he was unable to race for the rest of the 2016 season.
There is a sense of excitement from around the BTCC paddock as Lloyd embarks upon his first full BTCC season, and looks to build on his impressive performances last year.
