The MG KX Clubcard Fuel Save Team had a hugely successful Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship weekend at Snetterton.
A healthy points haul saw Jason Plato secure two victories and a fourth, while Sam Tordoff recovered from disappointment in race one to secure two top-ten finishes on a beautiful day in Norfolk.
It was a case of mixed fortunes for the two MG drivers in the first race of the afternoon. After qualifying on pole on Saturday, Plato led from start to finish to claim his second win of the season.
Tordoff on the other hand wasn't enjoying the race as much as his team-mate. He was forced to crawl back to the pit lane on the first lap after suffering a brake problem. The 25 year-old eventually rejoined the race but finished 31st.
Race two proved to be successful for both drivers despite early failings. Plato had to be at his best to see off the BMW of Colin Turkington who had passed the MG6 into the first corner. A great move on lap eight saw the MG driver re-take the lead and, despite some pressure late on, he hung on for the win.
Meanwhile, the battle through the field for Tordoff proved just as exciting as the one at the front. A stunning drive resulted in a ninth-place finish.
The shake-up reverse grid wasn't too kind on the MG's as Aron Smith was promoted to pole from eighth. The Irishman went onto win the race but both Plato and Tordoff fought their way to improved positions of fourth and seventh respectively.
The Triple Eight engineered MG team will head to the next round at Knockhill in three week's time looking to build on their momentum in their push for both the Manufacturers' and Drivers' Championships.
