After phenomenal success earlier this year, with the MG6 taking the ‘Driver Power; Best Handling’ crown, yesterday, Auto Express announced the results of their ‘Driver Power; Best and Worst Car Dealers of 2014’
MG’s dealer network was the highest placed new entry; voted an impressive 8th overall, and 2nd for value for money. Now in its 13th year, the Driver Power awards have been voted for by 50,000 car owners and readers of Auto Express, the UK’s biggest selling weekly automotive magazine.
MG finished just 0.04% behind fellow Midland’s based manufacturer, Jaguar and only 3.43% behind the overall winners, Lexus.
“A strong result for MG but there’s the caveat that only a small number of MG's cars will have started to go through their servicing schedules, and numbers are still relatively small. Still, for value for money and standard of workmanship in particular, it’s hard to argue with the manufacturer’s results. “No pressure, excellent advice, good deal,” is what one respondent told us. “Knowledge of the brand is outstanding,” said another. A good debut that could be built on with some small improvements.”
MG’s dealer network has been rapidly expanding in 2014, with 50 dealers, and 13 after sales centres now active throughout the UK.
Earlier this year, The MG was placed 3rd ‘Best Manufacturer’ and the MG6 scooped the ‘Best Handling award’, and was placed 6th in ‘Best Car to Own’ in the 2014 Driver Power customer satisfaction survey.
The MG6 is in good company, replacing the Porsche Cayman as last year’s winner, managing to combine engaging chassis dynamics and everyday practicality with five seats, high levels of equipment as standard on all models, class leading interior and boot space, and award winning safety and security systems.
Designed, engineered and finally assembled in the UK, the MG6 boasts superior MG driving dynamics available in both a sporty GT Fastback and Magnette saloon body styles; both available in petrol and diesel variants. The MG6 range starts from just £15,455 and includes the new 350 Nm, 150 PS, six speed stop-start diesel engine, emitting only 129g/Km of CO2 while still retaining its sporty persona with 350 Nm of torque, making the diesel variant road tax exempt for the first year and costing only £110 a year to tax thereafter.
Steve Fowler, Editor-in-Chief at Auto Express said; “This is a fantastic first appearance for MG in Driver Power with the MG6. We knew when we first drove the car that it handled brilliantly and it seems owners agree. That they also rate the seat comfort and ride quality so highly is icing on the cake. We wouldn’t be surprised if the MG3 started to give the MG6 a run for its money in next year’s Driver Power survey.”
