Silverstone Pole For MG

The MG6 GT of Jason Plato will start tomorrow's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at Silverstone from pole position.

The two-time Champion put in an early lap of 58.511 seconds, which wasn't beaten in the 30-minute qualifying session.

Team-mate Sam Tordoff was unable to create a repeat of last year's front row lock-out, and had to settle for third behind Championship leader Colin Turkington.

It was unfortuate for the Yorkshireman, who was just 0.003 seconds slower than his BMW counterpart, who in turn was only 0.064 seconds off Plato's fastest time.

Manufacturer's Championship rivals Honda will start down the field after a disappointing day. Gordon Shedden will start race one from 17th, while team-mate Matt Neal was 18th fastest.

All the action from Sunday's three races will be live on ITV4 from 11am, plus you can get live updates on Facebook and Twitter
