MG Secure Front Row Lock-Out At Brands Hatch

Both MG6 GTs will be on the front row for the first race of the MSA Dunlop British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch tomorrow after an eventful and highly entertaining qualifying session this afternoon.

Jason Plato produced a fastest lap of 1:33.949 to put his car on pole position just ahead of team-mate Sam Tordoff who was 0.895 seconds slower.

Plato and Tordoff set the pace in the early stages, but in the drying conditions a host of drivers went quicker to hold provisional pole position. With just a couple of minutes remaining though, both MGs went quicker again and with Dave Newsham heading in to the gravel late on, out came the red flags to bring a premature end to the session.

MG head into Sunday's trio of races looking to secure the Manufacturer's Championship for the first time since entering the series in 2012. The gap between MG and Honda heading into the final day is 28 points, and the team know that safely finishing all three races with both cars will be enough to land the title.

You can watch all of the action live on ITV4 from 10.15am, while we will have regular updates on Facebook and Twitter
