If you and your children are history fanatics, then York is a must-see destination. With many attractions for varying age groups, there’s always something to see and do in York, making it one of the best UK city breaks for families. Despite being a bustling city, York is also surrounded by beautiful countryside, perfect for getting the family out on a nice, long walk or scenic drive.

The easiest way to explore York is to walk around the medieval city walls. The walls are around 2 miles long in total, but you can come on and off at various points if you need a little break. The steps at most points of the wall are also wide enough for a buggy – making it really accessible for families of all ages.
