Aron Taylor-Smith will form part of a new-look line-up for MG's BTCC team in 2017.
After making his debut with Triple Eight at Croft in 2011, where he scored a point in his first race, the Irishman has gone on to become a multiple race winner and consistent challenger at the front of the grid.
Born in Dublin, he began his racing career in karting in 2004 and went on to become JICA Irish Kart Club Champion the following year. In 2016, he backed that up by winning the Irish Open Kart Championship.
In 2007, he made the switch to 'tin-top' racing in the Renault Clio Cup, where he raced for four seasons. A year in Clio Cup Italia was sandwiched in the middle and his sample of BTCC action in 2011 came before a full move to BTCC in 2012.
A first podium came at Sivlerstone before a maiden win in his debut season in the penultimate race at Brands Hatch. This rounded off an impressive season with an eighth-placed finish in the Championship. Taylor-Smith has gone onto win three more races and has made numerous appearances on the podium.
His pace and competive nature, along with his likeable personality, has made him a popular figure on the BTCC grid and he'll be hoping for more success with MG RCiB Racing in 2017.
